Lego Friends Olivia’s Tree House

The next set we are looking at from the new Lego Friends 2012 range is the Lego Friends Olivia’s Tree House set.

To start off with, this Lego set contains 191 pieces and comes with 1 lego minifigure Doll which is of course Olivia. Just like the other sets, this Lego Friends box looks fantastic with some really great art work, the back of the box contains images of some of Olivia’s tree house features and some of the other Lego Friends sets available to buy.

Inside the box are 2 numbered bags and the instruction book, the instuctions are really easy to read and make putting this Lego set together an enjoyable encounter even for those who may not be used to Lego.

So let’s first take a look at the 1 lego minifigure doll that is supplied, Olivia comes in 4 different pieces, hair, head,body and legs.  There is some really lovely detailing on Olivia’s top with different heart shapes.

Moving on to the actual build of the treehouse set, I have to say that the build is nice and simple and is perfect for girls who have never played or built Lego sets before and for those that have some building experience.  Included in this Lego Friends set are some really nice new colour pieces which Lego collectors are really going to like.

Another fantastic addition to this set is the flower and tree parts or the foliage, there are some amazing flower parts like red roses and other different shapes and styles which really does make a great addition to the Lego universe, you also get a really cute cat and bird figure .

All in all this is a great Lego set and makes a fantastic starter set into the Lego Friends world, there are some great features like the secret branch which hides all your treasures!

Lego Toy Fair 2012 – Lego Lord of the Rings

This is a quick update on the brand new Lego Lord of the Rings sets which I got to see today at the UK Toy Fair 2012, the first thing to say are that these sets look amazing and I want everyone of them!

Now before I quickly run through the Lego Lord of the Rings sets, I have some bad news…there will be NO Lego The Hobbit Sets this year!!!

That’s right, we will have to wait until early 2013 before Lego will be releasing The Hobbit sets, this is a world wide release not just UK.  Speaking to Lego today there reasoning was that a whole generation has grown up in the last 10 years since the Lord of the Rings release and they want to slowly build the appeal and commitment of a new generation and not just the hard core fans.

Anyway moving on to the Lego Lord of the Rings sets…there will be 6 sets available in August:

  • Lego Lord of the Rings Gandalf arrives
  • Lego Lord of the Rings Shelob Attacks
  • Lego Lord of the Rings Attack on Weathertop
  • Lego Lord of the Rings Uruk-hai Army
  • Lego Lord of the Rings The Mines of Moria
  • Lego Lord of the Rings The Battle of Helm’s Deep

The mini figures are fantastic and the detail is incredible, I loved the Boromir and Gimli minifigures.  You will have to buy every set to collect the whole fellowship, but then again why wouldn’t you want to!

Another detail that I noticed was in the Attack on Weathertop set, where you get the 2 scary Ringwraiths, which looked really cool, but it was the horses that really stood out, for the first time ever we now have totally posable horses!

Lego Friends City Park Cafe – Cheapest Prices

Finally Lego have decided to really target the girls market with the new Lego Friends range and I have to say that Lego have done a fantastic job!

So starting off we are going to take a look at the new Lego Friends City Park Cafe set or Lego 3061 as it’s also known.

Lego have really done a lot of research into the girls market and what girls want from the Lego experience and from what we’ve seen they are got this spot on!  The box art and the colours are really catchy and really do capture the eye amongst all the other girls toys out there.

The Lego Friends City Park Cafe really is a great set, which comes with 222 pieces and 2 mini doll figures which as you have noticed are different from the standard lego minifigures and more like the Character Building figures with greater detail in the body and head sculpts.

What I love about these sets and espcially the Lego Friends City Park Cafe set is the amount of detail that Lego have included and they have given the same weight as they do the City or Star Wars sets for example to the new Lego Friends ranges.

So delving into the box we have 3 numbered bags, a sticker sheet and the instruction manual which features easy to read instructions to build the city park cafe.

So let’s first take a look at the new lego figures, as i’ve already mentioned they look alot like the new Character building minifigures and the research that Lego completed stated that girls didn’t like the normal Lego minifigures as much. Just like the original minifigures, the new versions are broken into head, body and legs, the hands are the same size as the normal lego minifigures so can hold the same things, this lego friends set comes with 2 Lego minifigures which consist of Andrea and Marie.

Moving onto the actual set itself there are some fantastic accessories which have never been seen before including a hand mixer and a range of other kitchen accessories in yellow.

The actual build of the cafe is really straightforward and you get some really cool new lego parts like the massive clear windows, there really is so much playability to this set which is fantastic to see.  I really love this set and see this being a real hit this year with girls of all ages, the design is fun and the construction is really detailed which was always something missing from previous attempts at the girls Lego market.   With so much detail and loads of cool accessories to play with the Lego Friends City Park Cafe is a fantastic addition.

The world of Lego Friends is set around a place called Heartlake City, the city get’s it’s name because of the stunning heart shape lake in the centre of the city and each of the Lego Friends sets is built around a group of friends who live there, Mia, Emma, Andrea, Stephanie and Olivia who live and work in Heartlake City.

Each of the girls has a different personality and job in Heartlake City, Mia, loves animals and want’s to become a vet, you will always find her either at the vets or at the many dog shows.

Emma is really creative and loves designing clothes and jewelery, you will normally find Emma at her design studio or at the beauty salon.  Andrea loves singing and dancing and want’s to be a musician, Emma can normally be found at the City Park Cafe where she sings to the customers.

Lego Catwoman Catcycle City Chase – Cheapest prices

Lego DC Superheroes Catwoman Catcycle City Chase

The Lego DC Superheroes Catwoman Catcycle City Chase is the next set we are going to take a look at in this amazing new 2012 range from Lego.

The Lego Catwoman Catcycle City Chase is the smallest set in the range totaling 89 lego pieces and coming with 2 lego minifigures.

As mentioned the Lego DC Superheroes Catwoman Catcycle City Chase set or Lego 6858 comes with 2 lego minifigures: Catwoman and Batman.

Starting with the Catwoman minifigure, I have to say that i’m really impressed with this and it’s a Lego minifigure i’ve been after for a long time. The face is double sided with one side showing glasses and the other side her smiling face, the catwoman mask is fantastic and I really love the design job that Lego has done here, there is a great detailed paint job done on the body for this figure and for me it’s worth buying this set just for this minifigure alone.

Next we come to the Batman lego minifigure, this is the same batman that we have already seen in other sets but with one major difference, instead of having a cape he comes with the batglider which is really cool! The face is again double painted with 2 different expressions, you also get the batarang.

Moving onto the actual set itself, it’s basically made up of 2 parts, Catwomans catcycle and a road signal. The build itself is very easy and the traffic signal is a really cool design, I really love the extra detail in this set like the printed newspapers, then we move onto Catwomans catcycle which again looks fantastic and is really fun to play with, you can even attach catwomans whip to the side of it.

All in all I have to say that this is a fantastic set and is well worth buying if you are a fan of the Lego DC Superheroes range.

Lego DC Superheroes Superman Vs Power Armor Lex – Cheapest Prices

Lego DC Superheroes Superman Vs Power Armor Lex

 The brand new 2012 Lego DC Superheroes Superman Vs Power Armor Lex or Lego 6862 has been one set I haven’t been able to hide my excitment about getting, Superman is my favourite superhero of all time and this Lego set is really cool!

Just like the full range of Lego DC Superheroes sets the packaging on this is fantastic and it really does have a comic book feel about it. Inside the box you get a comic book which is a really cool addition, I have to admit that I really love these things and the fact that it gives you a guide to all the Lego DC superheroes character minifigures that you will be able to collect over the range.

The Lego Superman Vs Power Armour Lex is broken down into 3 bags and you get 3 fantastic Lego minifigures included: Superman, Wonder Woman and Lex Luthor. Let me start by saying that these Lego minifigures are really cool and the detail is fantastic.  Starting off with Wonder Woman you get a cool double sided face, the actual hair mold is really cool and comes with her iconic headband, Wonder Woman also comes with a golden lasso.  Next we come to Lex Luthor, there is nothing really special about him although I do like his suit torso. Finally we have Superman himself, Lego have done a fantastic job on this Superman figure and the hair mold is amazing, the printing on his chest with the six pack and superman logo looks fantastic and I love the cape design…I would buy this Lego 6862 set just for this minifigure alone!

The actual build of this set is Lex Luthors power armor and I have to say that it is a really cool design, the set is easy to put together and looks great, I love the cockpit design and also the amount of articulation that you can get from this is incredible, you can get some great poses.

I have to say that Lego have done a fantastic job with this set and it’s one of the most fun to play with and looks great, the addition of the cool minifigures will make this set rocket in value over the coming years so buy 2 and you have a great investment.

Lego DC Superheroes The Batcave – Cheapest Prices

Lego DC Superheroes The Batcave

The new range of Lego DC Superheroes sets have just arrived in time to help you spend your Christmas money!

The biggest set in the new Lego DC range has to be the Lego DC Superheroes The Batcave set or Lego 6860 as it’s also known.

I have to admit that i’ve been really looking forward to seeing this new set since the details where shown back in the Summer and it hasn’t disappointed in anyway!

 

To start off this really is a big Lego set with over 690 lego pieces and includes 5 fantastic minifigures which include Batman, Robin, Bruce Wayne, Poison Ivy and Bane.

This lego set comes with 3 large manuals and there is also a fantastic free comic book which is really cool.  So let’s take a look at the lego minifigures to start with, kicking off with Batman himself, here you get the blue version of Batman which has a double sided face and also a really cool cape.  Next we have Robin who comes with a grappling gun and cape, then we come to Bruce Wayne who is really cool and has a great body sculpt of a suit, this is a brand new figure who isn’t in any of the other sets. Moving on we come to my favourite minifigures, Posion Ivy and Bane, Posion Ivy is a really great detailed figure and she actually comes with Posion Ivy (which has already been seen in the POTC sets on the mermaids) she also comes with a double sided face sculpt and last we come to Bane who comes with a bomb, this is a fantastic sculpt.

The actual Batcave set itself is really well done has has some amazing features, on the main part of the batcave itsely you have Bruce Wayne watching the monitors to make sure that Bane cannot break out Posion Ivy from her cell on the otherside of the Batcave.

What I love about this set is the second section of the Batcave where you can turn Bruce Wayne into his alter ego Batman which is a really great feature. There is also a big red batphone which is a neat touch. Also on this section we have the batman gear section which is a wall that holds the handcuffs, binoculars and 2 batarangs.

That’s not all, you also get 2 vehicles with this set, the batcycle and Bane’s Drill Tank, this is really cool, as you move the tank across the floor the actual drill starts turning.  The Tank also comes on catapiller tracks which just goes towards the total look of this vehicle.

All in all this is a stunning lego set that no lego or super heroes fans should be without and if it’s anything like the previous Batman sets this should become a real investment buy also.

There are a number of different size thundercats figures available for you to collect from the standard 4″ figures which are the action figures that are compatible with the playsets and vehicles like the Thundertank through to the new Thundercats Classic figures range and there is also a 6″ collectors range, which is more detailed and is aimed towards the collector.

The first wave of the 4″ Thundercats 2011 figures include:

Thundercats Deluxe Sword of Omens – Cheapest Prices

Thundercats Deluxe Sword of Omens

 For all those fans of the new Thundercats cartoon there is one toy that nobody should be without and that is the iconic Thundercats Deluxe Sword of Omens.

Now you can be just like Lion-O with this fantastic thundercats sword featuring full lights and sound effects!

When you first get the sword of omens it is in the smaller dagger and this is just the start, on the handle is a battery compartment which includes 3xLR44 batteries (our advise as always is to buy a fresh pack of batteries).  At the bottom of the handle is a on/off switch, on one side of the sword is the Eye of Thundera and on the other side is the thundercats logo.

There are 2 main buttons on the handle of the sword, the first button just under the thundercats logo activates the side blades and you get a really cool sound effect just like in the cartoon and the eye in the centre of the sword lights up!  The other button on the handle makes even more sound effects of the slashing of the sword, if you hold on to the button you get the iconic ‘Thunder, Thunder, Thunder, ThunderCats Hooo’.  The blade also extends into the full sword mode and this is really cool, for me the deluxe sword of omens is the only way to go!
