Lego Pirates of the Caribbean The Black Pearl

The Lego Pirates of the Caribbean The Black Pearl is one set that all Lego and POTC fans have been desperate to get since the sets were released earlier this year.

So let’s take a look at this amazing Lego Pirates of the Caribbean set in more detail, to start off with this set includes a total of 804 lego pieces and 6 lego minifigures and is suitable for ages 9 years and upwards.

Just like the previous Lego Pirates of the Caribbean sets you also get a free poster included which is really cool and has some great details.

As mentioned you get 6 lego minifigures with this set and what’s really exciting is that 4 of the figures are exclusive to this set.

Starting off we have another Jack Sparrow minifigure which just like each Jack in every other set is unique.  This Jack Sparrow has a totally different body painting and a different head piece, his face is also double sided.  Next we come to Will Turner, you get his sword sheath, and gun, again his face is double sided, then we have Gibbs who again has already been available in other sets but is a great figure, I really love the wig on this one.  Moving onto the exclusive figures in the set we have Bootstrap Bill who we learn is Will Turner’s father, Bootstrap Bill comes with a fantastic head sculpt, the detail is amazing and he comes with a knife and bottle of rum.  Following on from Bootstrap Bill we have Maccus which is a fantastic figure, this is the one that looks like a hammer head shark and the detail is fantastic.  Finally we come to Davy Jones who was the main villain in the second and third movie, this figure is fantastic and the detail is amazing, you even get the crab claw and peg leg, I love this minifigure!

So let’s move on to the actual Black Pearl ship, the first thing to say is that this set looks amazing, I love the look and feel of this set and it looks really slick in black.  The detail on this ship is fantastic, the black peral itself is only on one floor and this is reflected in the price, but the actual deck in my opinion looks so much better than the Lego Pirates of the Caribbean Queen Anne’s Revenge ship. 

Looking closer at some of the details, I have to say that I love the canon pieces, you can close the hatch over the top of the canon which is really cool, you also get 4 canon balls.  Other great features include a bucket of swords and the ships anchor which is held together on a chain and can be thrown overboard.

The back of the Black Pearl looks fantastic and the detail like the lanterns are awesome, Lego have done a fantastic job at capturing the whole look and feel of the black pearl.  Check out the windows around the captain’s cabin which can open up and also the side wall of the cabin is on hinges and it can open up so you can get inside the captain’s cabin, this is a really great feature.

For the price Lego have done a fantastic job with the Black Pearl and it’s a great addition to the Lego Pirates of the Caribbean sets, the only slight note of criticism I have in the sails, it’s a shame they where not more rugged looking like they are in the movies, it just looks a bit to clean, but apart from this small detail this is a must-buy set!
